Decadent French Toast Casserole
Served at the Sweetwater Branch Inn Bed and Breakfast in Gainesville.
A favorite with the guests, it is “a tried and true” staple of breakfasts at the Inn, and true to its name, quite decadent.
In a saucepan, melt together:
1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon Karo syrup
Pour the mixture into a 9 x 12 Pyrex dish that has been greased with butter.
Lay French or Cuban bread slices 1 inch thick in dish.
Mix:
6 eggs
2 cups milk
Pour the mixture over the bread. Top with cinnamon. Soak overnight.
In the morning, bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
